Artists will be painting their walls in August between Tuesday 23rd and Saturday 29th from noon-ish till sundown. After hours, we have planned some events where we’ll all be holding cans of beer, not aerosol.
Please join us on the following dates:
PORTUGAL. THE MAN @ WHITE OWL SOCIAL CLUB
As the frontman of local band Portugal. The Man, John Gourley has spent a lot of time doodling in the back of tour vans. Over the years, his sketches have become the exclusive artwork for the band’s albums and have garnered a fan base of their own. On the opening night of FFTT, Portugal. The Man will play a kick-off show at White Owl Social Club with all proceeds going toward next year’s mural festival.
SKETCH PARTY @ UNION PINE
Inspired by all the murals that are popping up around town? Thursday night will be an opportunity to get sketchy with the artists at a drink-n-draw event at Union Pine. There will be also be live performances by NeoPoPoMo, Tron “Grape God” and Ripley Snell, video projections, installations, music and plenty of dranks.
SCULPTURE GARDEN @ PORTLAND ART MUSEUM
With most artists nearing completion on their walls, Friday night will be a decompression session as well as a mash-up of the traditional and urban art worlds. Head to the Portland Art Museum’s courtyard for a tasty brew and to see sculptural installations by FFTT artists AJ Fosik, Peter Gronquist and Blaine Fontana.
FFTT BIKE TOUR @ ALL OVER TOWN
After last year’s success, we will be leading a cross-town bicycle tour that will cruise by most of festival’s walls in one fell swoop. It will begin at Alex Peterson’s mural on SE Ankeny + 28th at 11am sharp and end at the Ford Building’s multi-artist mural at SE Division + 11th around 2pm. For rehydration purposes, the after-party will be across the road at Apex shortly thereafter. See the Bike Tour Map at ffttnw.com/bike!
